Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU), established in 1962 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, is the premier state university of south Rajasthan and one of Rajasthan's four traditional universities. Named after Rajasthan's Chief Minister Mohanlal Sukhadia — who presided over the state's formative years after independence — MLSU is a comprehensive affiliating and teaching university with 160+ affiliated colleges across Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, and Pratapgarh districts. The university holds NAAC A accreditation and features in NIRF top 100 universities. MLSU is set in a 540-acre campus in the Fatehpura area of Udaipur — one of India's most picturesque cities known as the "City of Lakes." The campus is within view of the Aravalli hills and has easy access to Udaipur's UNESCO-listed palaces, lakes, and tribal art traditions. MLSU is particularly strong in Mining Engineering (reflecting Rajasthan's mineral wealth — zinc, lead, fluorite, calcite), Chemistry, and Tribal Studies (serving Rajasthan's large Bhil and Meena tribal communities). The College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE) at MLSU is one of Rajasthan's top government engineering colleges. Udaipur's unique culture — Mewari folk music (Ghoomar, Padharo), Phad painting, and lakeside cultural festivals — enriches campus intellectual life.
