Allah Rakha Rahman is one of the world's most celebrated composers, a two-time Academy Award winner, two-time Grammy Award winner, and recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Born in Chennai in 1967 as A.S. Dileep Kumar, he embraced Islam in his twenties. His 1992 debut score for Mani Ratnam's "Roja" redefined Indian film music, and he has since scored 150+ films across Tamil, Hindi, English, and other languages — including "Bombay", "Dil Se..", "Lagaan", "Slumdog Millionaire" (which won him two Oscars for the score and the song "Jai Ho"), "127 Hours", "Rockstar", "Highway", "Rangoon", and "Ponniyin Selvan". Rahman runs the KM Music Conservatory in Chennai training the next generation of Indian musicians and has scored some of Broadway's biggest musicals (Bombay Dreams). He remains one of the world's highest-grossing composers and a beloved global figure.
