How public records work

Why some profiles exist before the person has signed up.

Some profiles on EaseOfBiz are compiled from public sources — published project credits, public filmography and discography records, and other publicly available professional information — before the person they describe has created an account. This lets a real, credited body of work be discoverable and correctly attributed even if the person hasn't joined yet.

An unclaimed profile is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or verified by the person it describes. It is a public record, not a live account. Once claimed, the person gains full control: they can edit, correct, or remove any part of it.

If a profile describes you, you can claim it directly from the profile page. Claiming verifies your identity via email and gives you ownership of the @handle, the ability to edit every field, and control over what stays public.

If a public record contains incorrect information, you can flag it directly from the profile or project page, or claim the profile to correct it yourself.
