Poor Things (2023) is a surreal feminist dark comedy directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, based on Alasdair Gray's novel. Emma Stone plays Bella Baxter — a woman resurrected by an eccentric surgeon (Willem Dafoe) with an infant's brain implanted in her adult body — who discovers the world, sexuality, philosophy, and her own identity. It won the Golden Lion at Venice, 4 Academy Awards including Best Actress, and is widely considered one of the finest films of the decade.
