Anna University is the apex technical university of Tamil Nadu, established in 1978 and named after the beloved statesman C. N. Annadurai. Headquartered at the historic Guindy campus in Chennai — originally the College of Engineering Guindy (1794, one of the oldest in Asia) — the university serves as the affiliating body for over 550 engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu, making it one of the largest technical university systems in the world by student enrolment. The Guindy campus itself spans over 180 acres and hosts flagship departments in civil, mechanical, electrical, computer science, and information technology. NAAC A+ accredited and consistently ranked within the top 20 in NIRF University rankings, Anna University maintains rigorous academic standards through a centralised curriculum and examination system.
