Bangalore University is one of Karnataka's largest and most important state universities, established in 1964 and headquartered at the historic Jnanabharathi Campus in West Bengaluru. The university is affiliated with over 500 colleges spread across Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, and Chikkaballapur districts, making it one of the largest affiliating universities in India by the number of institutions under its purview. Accredited with NAAC B++, Bangalore University offers undergraduate programmes (BA, BSc, BCom, BCA) through its affiliated colleges, while postgraduate programmes in arts, sciences, commerce, law, and management are offered directly at the university's Central College Campus and Jnanabharathi Campus. The university is particularly noted for its strength in humanities, social sciences, Kannada literature, and natural sciences. Fees are extremely affordable — ranging from ₹8,000 to ₹30,000 per year — making quality higher education accessible to students from all economic backgrounds. Admission to UG programmes is largely merit-based through state-level CUET or direct college admissions, while PG programmes use the PG-CET.
