About
Columbia University, founded in 1754 as King's College, is one of the oldest institutions in the USA and the Ivy League's New York City member. Its 33,000+ students span Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, and top-ranked graduate and professional schools — Business (Columbia Business School), Law, Journalism (which administers the Pulitzer Prizes), Medicine (Vagelos College), Public Health (Mailman), and International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Located in Morningside Heights on the Upper West Side, Columbia's Core Curriculum — one of American higher education's oldest — is a defining feature of the College experience. Columbia has produced 100+ Nobel Laureates, five US Founding Fathers, and generations of leaders across finance, journalism, medicine, and the arts, with a very large Indian graduate-student community especially in engineering, journalism, and public policy.
