KLE Technological University (formerly BVB College of Engineering and Technology), established in 1947, is one of Karnataka's most respected engineering institutions. Granted university status in 2015 as KLE Technological University, it is the only dedicated technology university in north Karnataka, serving as the apex engineering institution for the Hubli-Dharwad twin city region. The university holds NAAC A accreditation and NIRF rank in the top 150 engineering institutions. KLE Tech offers B.E., M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and PhD across 14 engineering departments. The university is particularly strong in Electronics, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. Hubli-Dharwad's growing IT sector (Hubballi is one of Karnataka's three largest cities after Bengaluru and Mysuru) and manufacturing base provide strong placement opportunities. The university's 30-acre campus in Vidyanagar, Hubli, is compact but fully equipped. KLE Tech has active industry partnerships with BEML (Bengaluru Engineering, Manufacturing, Locomotive — which has a unit in Hubli), the Dharwad industrial estate, and Hubli's railway workshop (India's largest diesel locomotive workshop).
